The son of a steelworker, Lance Heft was born in a small blue-collar town in Pennsylvania. Red headed, freckle-faced and persistent, his desire to be a leader and entrepreneur and his passion for helping others became apparent early on. At age seven, he collected newspapers then recycled them for profit. He was known as the one to go to for advice—those close to him called him “the fixer” because of his ability to help others in need.
Lance was strongly influenced by his fourth grade teacher, Louise Shingler Zulick, when she wrote the words from Shakespeare’s Hamlet: “To Thine Own Self Be True” on his report card. Since then, Lance has never looked back. These inspiring words have been his lifelong guide.
While at high school, to earn money for his university education at the Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Lance painted houses and worked in construction. When Lance moved from his blue-collar environment to SMU he found himself among students from wealthy and privileged backgrounds, but he fit in simply because of his approach to life—he was true to himself.
Throughout these years, Lance travelled extensively developing real estate and business projects for investors. He also learned the oil trade, eventually traveling to Kuwait and London where he lived for a while.
When visiting his hometown in Pennsylvania, Lance met and married Heather, now his wife of fifteen years. Their love of travel has taken them to the Caribbean, Europe and South America. The father of two girls, Lance and his family live in the idyllic countryside of Pennsylvania in the dream house he built for his family.
